Bloods who were parading their new signings namely Rono,
Bramwel and Isaack proved to all and sundry why they are the league defending
champions, by outplaying the star studded Spanners by 4-2. They made their
presence felt as early as the tenth minute when their number ten tried his luck
from ten yards out only to be denied by Spanners goalkeeper who produced an
amazing save.
Bloods kept on pushing for that elusive goal and they
finally opened the scoring in the 20th minute, when a harmless shot
from their marauding striker Jaffe caught Nchimunya, the Spanners goalie off guard
and kissed the back of the net 1-0 to Young bloods.
Spanners tried to come back to the game but it was just not
their day as Young bloods were all over them like a rash and they increased
their lead in the 30th minute, when Jaffe made a darting run on the
wing and made a beauty of a cross, Malik seeing the goalkeeper off his line
controlled the ball and slotting the onrushing Nchimunya who was having a bad
day at the office. The first half concluded with Bloods enjoying a two goal
lead.
The second half began on a slow pace but picked up as the
minutes progressed with Bloods proving to everyone why they are the defending
Double champions, with the hard working Willy at the belly of the park, the
ever running Jaffe and their playmaker Isaack teaching Spanners a good football
lesson. Isaack who was having the game of his life on his debut for Bloods was
magnificent in that play making role, dictating terms and controlling the pace
of the game, with the likes of Suku and Shabik eating humble pie.
Coming back to the game, Spanners to their credit didn’t
seat back but they kept on pushing to decrease the deficit and they did pull a
goal back, when Sangu with his Usain Bolt pace outran the Bloods defence and
crossed the ball for Gift who finished off under pressure from the Bloods
defence.
It looked like Spanners were coming back to the game, as they created
some chances but good goalkeeping from School team 1S choice
goalkeeper Philo and poor finishing let them down and they were made to pay
for that when Bloods made it 3-1 through
Malik, who received a pass from a teammate and upon receiving the ball turned
Jim inside out and coolly slotted the ball to the back of the net….what a way
to score a goal on your debut, salute Malik, the star in the making.
It looked like it would be a high scoring game, as Spanners
never gave up and kept on pushing for the second goal to try and get back to
the game and it came through their best player of the day, the Pastor Gift
Chisala, who scored his second goal of the day 3-2, dynamites do come in small
packages and Mr Chisala is testament to that.
But Bloods were not just about done and they scored their
fourth goal of the game from a nice cross of kiplimo in which Rono slotted a powerful
volley and from there it became hard for Spanners to come back, until the
referee blew his final whistle ending the game and Bloods leaving with all the
three points firmly in the bag……what a game!! .
