CFC vs Muller Fc |
CFC did the unthinkable when they walked off the pitch in exactly the 88th because they disapproved with one of the referee's decisions.
Coming to the game it was an interesting game between two teams lying 3rd and 6th respectively on the league table who are all vying for the four slots allocated to teams to teams participating in the champions league.
Mueller started the game like a house on fire with their back four playing quite well with some cohesion. The Nigerian William was not giving Cfc's number seven, the new kid on the block Eden no chance,as he closed him down every time he had the ball as a result Cfc finished the first half without a single shot on target. The first half had nothing really to write about except for a free kick from 20 yards out which was scored by Franco.
In the second half Cfc to their credit came back a different team as they forced Mueller to defend in numbers in search of that equalizing goal goal but that proved elusive as they missed chance after chance with Benjie and Eden being the main culprits. Mueller tried to catch Cfc on the counter and they were forced to resort to long range shooting in search of that insurance goal.
It looked like the game was going to end 1-0 until the 88th minute when Mueller received a free kick from the edge of the box and a mistake by the Cfc goalkeeper who should have punched the ball away, punched it to Hazard's path and the Sudanese needed no invitation as he slotted the ball to the back of the net. However the referee's assistant seemed to have had his flag raised for an offside by Hazard but the referee overruled him and gave the goal. This seemed to infuriate the Cfc players as they simply walked off the pitch, even after the referee disallowed the goal, after consultation with the fourth official Steve.
